Student/Employer Alliance Program

The Student/Employer Alliance (SEA) Program is designed to assist both area students and employers.  Using community-based employment opportunities, in conjunction with in-school instruction, participating students are motivated to stay in school and also experience the working world.

The SEA Program provides service to students 16 years of age and up.  Local school districts identify participants as being “at risk” for graduation or having a smooth transition from school to work.  Currently, all participating students have an Individualized Education Plan (I.E.P.) through the school.  The SEA Program is written into those plans as part of the transition responsibilities of the school district.

The components of Supported Employment are used to assist each student in obtaining and maintaining employment.  A Vocational Evaluation is used to identify each student’s interests and abilities.  A brief community observation is also arranged, giving the student an opportunity to see the actual position in which they are interested.

An Employment Training Specialist is assigned to each participant.  Job readiness skills, job development and intensive coaching services are provided by the ETS on a one-to-one basis.  Arrangements are made with each school district to accommodate employment schedules and grant class credits for this activity.

Students gain valuable work experience and a chance to be active in the community.  In addition, participating employers are guaranteed productivity with the assistance of the ETS and can access tax-credits when available.

Currently the SEA Program is available for Venango County students, as well as, through the Northwest and North Central Workforce Investment Programs.
